Actually, Jehovah was only fearsome when it came to protecting his people. Jesus was the perfect reflection of his father. John 14:9, John 5:19; John 8:28; Colossians 1:14; Hebrews 1:3.
Jesus wasn't "soft" as you say. Look at John 2:14-16, those are the actions of a zealous, courageous man who would not tolerate injustice in his Father's house. About three years later, he did the same thing.
Just because Jesus was a humble, compassionate, loving person, doesn't mean he was "soft"
Although Jesus taught people to show love and compassion for others, many people do not realize that the main theme of his preaching was about God's kingdom. He is now King of that Kingdom. It is by means of this Kingdom that Jehovah's original purpose for the earth will be realized.

Actually the Jesus of the New Testament brings the real heat down from heaven.
Rev 19v11And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. 12His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
2nd Ths 1v8
8In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: 9Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

Jesus the Son perfectly reflects the personality of Jehovah the Father.
(Hebrews 1:1-3) God [has] spoken to us by means of a Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the systems of things. He is the reflection of his glory
(John 1:14) So [Jesus] became flesh and resided among us, and we had a view of his glory, a glory such as belongs to an only-begotten son from a father
(Colossians 1:13-15) [God] transferred us into the kingdom of the Son of his love... He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation
(John 5:19) Jesus went on to say to them: “Most truly I say to YOU, The Son cannot do a single thing of his own initiative, but only what he beholds the Father doing. For whatever things that One does, these things the Son also does in like manner.
(John 8:28) Jesus said: “...I do nothing of my own initiative; but just as the Father taught me I speak these things.
(John 17:21) You, Father, are in union with me and I am in union with you, that they also may be in union with us, in order that the world may believe that you sent me forth.
(John 12:44-45) Jesus cried out and said: “...he that beholds me beholds also him that sent me.

You paint Jehovah as one dimensional, which he is not. He is loving and powerful in OT & NT. Jesus' life was a manifestion of the versitility of his Father's true nature.

Both Yahweh and Jesus have grown beyond their original forms. Yahweh of OT notoriety, was a spiteful, merciless warmonger, anyone caring to research the crimes of this re-modelled Pagan deity, would find horrors galore. Flood, wars, slaughter of the innocents, and death galore. Jesus was no stranger to violence, consorted with Zealots and armed followers. Today of course, God is love, and Jesus becomes a pacifist. Both of these absurd notions are readily dispelled by reading the Bible, without wearing blinkers !!

The god of the old testament is like all gods, a myth. Jesus was just a man, it is thought that after his crucifixion, that he was not dead, he did not stay up as long as was regular, and his legs were not broken. It is thought he went to India, if he was real. There was a tv prog about it.

No, god junior could be pretty vicious as well! Hated women, families, non-Jews and all Jews who didn't agree with him, and made it clear he was here to bring war, not peace. Just read the collections of stories associated with him, especially some of the sermons attributed to him objectively.

Surprise! Jehovah and Jesus Christ are one and the same. Read your Bible (Isaiah 43:3; Hosea 13: 4).
