I was just watching Life on Mars, what was the tube of sherbet with the liqourice stick inside called, that Gene Hunt was eating whilst on surveillance ? My hubby reckons a sherbert dab, but wasn't that the one with the red lolly inside ?

Hi its a sherbet fountain, the sherbet dib dab did have the red lolly in it. Can you remember the lemonade fountain, made by the same people who did dib dab?

The tube was yellow & the liquorice stuck out ½ inch at the top. I saw them on sale just the other day in my local supermarket but did not notice what they were called.
Sherbet Dabs consisted of a small paper bag which contained sherbet & a small red lolly on a stick.
My local shop also has Flying Saucers which I used to love. I bought some but the edible paper used was different from when i was young & so was the sherbet inside. It waas much harsher & more the consistency of sugar.

The lolly one was called a dib-dab...it had 2 packets of sherbet and the lolly bit in the middle.
The liqourice was a sherbert dip

I haven't watched tonight's episode yet but I'm guessing it will be a Basset's sherbet fountain. From what I remember they were in a yellow tick paper tube with red writing on the side.
Sherbet dabs were definitely the ones with the red lolly inside and the sherbet was yellow and more crystallised.

I think the liquorice one is a Sherbet Dip and the lolly one is a Sherbert Dab.

It was a Sherbert Fountain. The one with a lolly was a Dib Dab.

Sherbet fountain. i remember biting off the top of the liquorice and sucking the sherbet up, then coughing like hell.oh joy such memories.
