I don't know about healthy, sustainable weight-loss that's also INSTANT, but I can give you some general guidelines I've learned for sustained weight loss.

First is make excercise a habit-a regular part of your routine. Organized sports or a hobby that involves aerobic activity are probably the two easiest ways to make that a habit.

Eat fruit for snacks as opposed to processed food. Fruit tastes just as good and is just as gratifying but contains vital vitamins, minerals, antioxidants etc. without the fat and excess calories of processed snacks. It can also cost less.

Avoid soda and artificial juices. Drink REAL juice, water or flavored water instead. The idea is to avoid empty calories, and high fructose corn syrup (nutritionists say it turns off receptors in your brain that tell you when you are full). That's why you can drink gut-buster sodas but could NEVER drink that much water at once!

Eat your meals slowly to allow your body time to tell your brain that you are full before you consume more than you need too.

Eat more foods, cereals, etc. that have whole grains (like wheat bread, for example). For one thing, the nutrient content is higher because naturally occuring nutrients haven't been stripped as much; for two-whole grains are delicious; for three-because of the higher fiber content, it helps to cleanse your digestive tract of potentially toxic waste and whole grains are much more filling.

It really is not necessary to go around hungry or prepare special meals to lose weight, assuming you are generally healthy and don't have any complicating medical conditions such as diabetis. For most of us, it's our lifestyle and excessive consumption that causes excess weight gain.

One more tip: Avoid fast food! And if you do eat it-and you are serious about losing weight-read the nutritional charts and compare it to the USDA daily recommended allowances and the Food Pyramid. Don't neglect to pay close attention to the sodium content of ALL processed foods as well. It could be quite an eye-opener! The salty taste of processed foods is what got my attention so I went on the internet to do research.

Finally, avoid foods that contain partially hydrogenated oils (read the label). It is used to make processed foods more shelf stable, but the stuff can clog your arteries. If you are avoiding processed snacks, this probably won't be an issue anyway, because that is where the stuff is usually found.

I know this is lengthy and I hope it helps. You can easily download healthy, quick recipes with a simple internet search.

eat breakfast! whole grain cereal with milk, an apple with peanut butter, low-fat or non-fat yogurt and a piece of whole wheat toast.

A good lunch would be a turkey sandwich on wheat with lots of veggies and mustard (no mayo) and even a slice of cheese is ok. with a salad and/or a piece of fruit.

Dinner: I'm a lazy cook and I usually make a Lean Cuisine, but I add my own salad or veggies and I stick everything on a real plate so I don't feel like I'm eating from a cardboard box.

For snacks, try to get some protien in there . A string cheese, almonds, yogurt, cheese and crackers. Just watch portion size.

cut out EVERTYTHING fried! There is NOTHING that's fried that is good for you. Nothing. Eat lots of fruits and veggies as your side dishes and snacks instead.

Don't forget to treat yourself to something you've been craving once in a while. just control the portion.

You should eat a well balanced meal that incorporates all the food groups so you don't have a VIT or MIN defeciency.

But here's a sample menu for one day...

Breakfast: Toast with fruit, glass of milk.

Snack: String cheese wrapped in a whole wheat tortilla shell, microwaved for about 20 seconds, maybe with some taco bell sauce on it. Very yummy.

Lunch: Salad, bring a little low fat dressing in a separate container. Load up with the veggies, you can cut them the night before to have it all ready to grab and throw in your bag. Dark green lettuce, baby spinach leaves, bell peppers, carrots, tomatos, broccolli, olives, cucumbers.

Snack: Some fruit, not the same as you had for breakfast b/c we're trying to get all our vitamins, remember?

Supper: Spaghetti, whole grain noodles, half of your meatballs made with ground turkey instead of beed (you wont be able to taste the difference, my husband doesn't), another veggie, maybe something that you wouldnt want to eat raw in a salad so you get a variety of veggies.

Dessert: strawberry shortcake with low-fat/fat-free whipped cream.

And remember to exercise. You can have a diet consisting only of celery and gain weight if you don't burn any calories. The only way to lose weight is to burn more calories than you eat.

I will try to keep it simple. Your metabolism is basically the rate at which your body burns calories to create energy. So the faster your metabolism, the faster you burn calories and the easier it is to lose unwanted weight. To boost your metabolism naturally you just need to eat the right foods.

You can sit down and literally eat a 1,000-calorie dinner and yet be absolutely starving just a few hours later and the reason is simple: Because your body didnt get what it needed in those 1,000 calories so it sends signals to your brain telling you to ingest more calories and thus, the late-night cravings. That means that the surest way to end those late-night cravings and keep your weight loss goals on track is to eat a more balanced, nutritious diet that actually gives your body what it needs.

It's VERY EASY to lose weight if you eat the right foods. Check out Dr. Charles Livingston's video here: http://www.sexyjese.com - it will blow your mind.
