Need help with a babysitting contract?

Hello
I am a full time nanny during the week and a babysitter in the evenings and weekends. I want to make a babysitting contract for parents. Like the other night the mom said she would be home at 4pm and never came home until 7:30 and i never got a call and she "forgot" to leave me a number where she can be reached.
I feel sometimes i get taken advantage of and want to make it clear before they leave what is expected.
What should it consist of??
thanks for your help

the site below gives contract information from the parent's perspective but it is VERY thorough and should help you craft your own contract.

it also has a section which details the day to day specifics and scheduling that are necessary.

if all else fails, work out a TWO WEEK NOTICE and get another job.

I would consider putting something in about an agreed upon return time, and what you would charge per hour (or half-hour or 15 minutes or whatever you choose) for time beyond that agreed upon return time. At my son's care facility, we pay in 5 minute increments if we are late. I would also have emergency contact information. How can you reach the parent, and if you can't, who should you call in case of an emergency. Perhaps include a statement authorizing you or the emergency contact to agree to treatment in the event of an emergency requiring a trip to the doctor. Good luck!

First you give all you info, qualifications contact numbers etc... you get their and ask that any changes be given in case of emergency i.e. their child has an accident and you need to contact them, also get a alternate contact of someone that they trust their kids with preferably a family member, you should also give rates i.e. 6pm- 8pm 10.00 per hour or part thereof, 9pm- 11pm 20.00 per hour or part thereof, you should also put a clause which says that exceeding the agreeded time will incur additional cost of say double the hourly rate after fifteen minute and each quarter hour after.

Yes, its always wise to set up a contract.
Give specific times that you work, and if there are circumstances whereby the parent cannot be punctual in picking up the child, then a fee of so much extra is charged for ever quarter of an hour.

A good site to go to for this answer is http://www.babycenter.com/refcap/baby/babychildcare/5947.html It basically states some ground rules for you and parent to abide. If the parent is unwilling to accept and/or abide to this contract, I strongly suggest that you find another family to which to work.
