Hi, I feed my Dobies Natural Balance by Dick Van Patten. Most people feeds their dogs twice a day,but I keep their bowls full all day, everyday. They have been feed this way since they were pups, and no they are not over weight.

I feed my big red Doberboy twice a day, about 1 1/2 cups in the morning and 1 1/2 cups around dinnertime. The thing about splitting the meals is a) not to feed too much at a time, avoiding "bloat" or gastric torsion; also b) how would you like to eat only once a day? LOL
My boy is kinda chunky, so I feed him Iams large breed "diet" food. He has also done well on the Costco/Kirkland brand of lamb and rice dry kibble, which is much less expensive and has the same ingredients in the same order as some of the more "premium" brands. I lean toward the kibble because it's a little better for his teeth.
Is your Dobe a puppy or a grown dog? Because that can make a difference too.

A good quality dry kibble that meets AAFCO standards at a minimum and designed for a large breed dog. There are lots of debate on the best brands. Don't buy supermarket foods.
Twice a day is typical. Use the amounts suggested by the food manufacturer for your dog's weight and adjust as needed if your dog's weight goes up or down. Don't free-feed (leave food available all the time). This leads to fat dogs and possible rodent problems.

It depends on the dog's size and weight and how often it is use to eating. Dogs can do just fine eating once per day, my dog was fed once a day, just before we sat down for dinner. But give the dog, dog food. You can make homemade dog food, but do not feed the dog table scraps.
According to Purina, a dog that weighs over 100 pounds should be provided with about 4 1/2 cups of food per day.

Innova Evo or another high quality brand and I would say 3 small meals a day because they are deep chested dogs that are prone to bloat.
