I think the obvious answer is it depends on the couple. I was in a long distance relationship that ended painfully. Then of course there are many couples out there who have endured the struggles of long distance and prospered into a happy life together. I think the more important question is...why are you asking? You must know that there are some couples who can endure long distance and some couples who can't...so without trying to go all Dr. Phil on you...it would seem the real issue is that you have doubts on whether you can make a long distance relationship work. Of course that's a scary thought. Going from seeing someone you love regularly to seeing them once every few months or maybe once every 6 is terrifying, it does take patience, trust, commitment and a lot of work! One thing I know for certain is that you're not going to find an answer on Yahoo...because every relationship is different and if you start comparing your relationship to other relationships you are heading down a long and difficult road. Good luck to you in your decision.

If it's worth it to both of you, it can work. It will require a lot of trust and patience, though. Talk things through and figure out what your expectations are.
I was in a LTR for a year, and I consider the LTR a success as we got engaged (and then later broke up). It's just like any other type of relationship that way.
Good luck!

My now husband went to college a year before I did. We talked a lot on the phone, but that was pretty much it until school was out. We have been married now 13 years and together a total of 19. It can work if you both really want it to.

I believe it because it worked for me. I have been with my boyfriend for almost 5 years. We had been long distance for 3 1/2 of those years. We are still together and better than ever. It can work. It just requires ALOT of patience, compromise, sacrifice, trust, and love. You should have those things anyway

of course!! im in one right now. we have 7 months... its kinda hard but with confidence and comunication it can be done. if there's love in the relationship then i guess its easier. its all in your head. you have to constantly set your priorities straight.

I myself can't see it working.
I hope you are not talking about yourself as you are a beautiful woman which has the pick of the litter when it comes to men
