obviously you wouldn't know about it once you are dead then if there was nothing, but would you think of life different than you do now? e.g what then is the point of all this life/living stuff? is someone or something just bored and tinkering with us just like we tinker with mice?

The point of living is just that. Living. This is it. You are here for a set amount of time, then you die. After that, there isn't anything else. So, start living this life, and not being "careful" to ensure you get to the "life" you want after you die. The disappointment would come had I lived a life of service to a fictional being, then nothing. What a waste.

When I die I will rot just like other dead things. The chemicals and compounds that make up my body will be recycled and reused in the continuing cycle of life. How much more awesome does it get than that?

Why does there have to be a point? I don't expect anything to happen after I die. I'm making the most of this life instead.

If I didn't know about it, I'd hardly be in a position to be disappointed, would I?

I anticipate that when the electro-chemical activity in my brain ceases, I will be no more.

Life is sweet and exciting in and of itself. It doesn't have to have a payoff at the end.

tinker with mice? I'll leave that one alone.
I know what will happen when I die. Bet you wish you knew.

Nope. I actually find comfort in thinking of death as nothingness. I live life for life here and now - and I live life for the people I love and who love me. I don't live for an afterlife.
