I have heard several people mention it and saw a letter in my local newspaper about it. Does anyone know? (and if you have a source, please list it.)

There won't be ANY drft anytime soon, politicians bring it up to start stuff and if there ever was a draft, women would not be involved. Especially if they have children, hell, single parents aren't even allowed in the military without all these special waivers.

Due to the willingness of people to yell "descrimination" if we have another draft, it will have to be a universal draft. However, it will be set up so there are a number of options once you get drafted.

For example. Everyone has to register when they hit age 18. Men and Women, healthy or not. Then all the birthdays go into a lottery with each day of the year getting a lottery number. Lets say DEC 15 gets lottery #1. Then everyone born on that day will get called up. They will get a physical. Those who are truely unfit for any kind of duty will be exempt. (Brain dead.)

Those who are able to serve their nation will then be divided up to needs of the country. The most fit (1A) males will go into the military as combat troops. The most fit females will go into the miltiary as non-combat troops. The rest will go into public service, such as working as an aid or orderly at the VA hospitals, Border Patrol, port security officers, monitoring a bank of TV cameras watching national monuments, etc.

Once everyone from Lottery day #1 has been accounted for, they go onto lottery day #2. And so on until the needs for that year are met. If it takes up to lottery day #60...then the other 305 days of numbers will be safe.

The issue of having kids will not count because if a woman gets out of it by saying she has kids, then the man should also be able to say the same. If the woman is pregnant when she gets called up, she should be given a one year extension and serve next year. Since she will know she will be serving next year, she will have more than enough time to make arrangements.

Of course, a draft only gets you enlisted personnel. They can not draft officers so they will still have that problem to deal with.

There will be no draft in the near future, so what you're reading is speculation (and depending on the source.. scare tactics).

Only 18 year old MALES register with the Selective Service, by the way.

Don't worry about it.

First is there going to be a draft?? NO. And since when do women register for selective service?? Never...Why would the govt. draft women when women are not even allowed in Combat rolls? I think there is no truth what so ever to what you have heard or read. It is an all volunteer force and that is the way we will keep it...

Only if the liberal Dems have their way.

Seriously no one who is more than 1/2 sane believes that there will be a draft anytime in the foreseeable future. The only proposals come from Democrats trying to score some PR points

i very highly doubt women with children will ever be drafted even if women did register with selective service the reason i say that is this.......women who enlist and sign a contract have the option when they become a mother of shortening their enlistment and getting out (at least in the air force im sure its for all services) why on earth would they let people under contract get out but involuntarily enlist someone with the same circumstance?

No source, but common sense dictates if you ask for equality, then that is something you should be required to equally share with the rest of the population.

See my other posts, I think women should have to register right along with men at the post office on their 18th birthday. You wanted equality, you got it. And, no, I am not a sexist, I am a realist. Let me ask you this, during Vietnam, did they exclude draftees who had children, I thought not.

Welcome to equality, here is your rifle.

BTW, the odds of us needing a draft right now are slim to none, were we to go to war with Iran, maybe, China, definitely, etc. It all depends on with whom we are going to war.

i do no longer have confidence they are going to be excluded yet they certainly heavily isn't very intense on the draft, they are going to be form of a final hotel. to no longer say they cant combat yet sending women persons to conflict against their will isn't portion of our American values!

Yes. It will be called something else, though.

It may look like this:

"Draft" has negative connotations, and so will not be used.
