Get some books and watch food network. Go on foodnetwork.com and look for some healthy recipes. You could also go to a book store and look for books and magazines. Did you know you burn more calories sleeping than watching television? Good luck and remember diets like Atkins won't stay with you forever, but your new healthy life style will stay with you for a while. Let me know how you do and remember to exercise. Don't keep eating the same things and don't do the same exercises.

Good for you for being concerned enough to want to get yourself healthy. First, don't stop eating. Don't skip meals. You might try eating 5 small meals a day instead of 3 big ones. A healthy smack inbetween will keep you satisfied and away from overeating at mealtime. 1/2 cup of fruits or veggies, a rice cake with a fruit spread, a cup of low fat yogurt. You know keeping active is important: walking, playing sports, some aerobic activity at least 30 minute daily would be a good start. Train yourself to drink 8 eight oz. glasses of water daily. Fill a 64 oz. container first thing in the morning and you can watch your progress through the day. Only water counts as water, not coffee, tea, soda or juice. Best of luck!

I know it is really boring but the only way to lose weight long term is to eat well and exercise.
However, if you want to lose weight quickly, do a fruit and veg fast - literally just eat fruit and veg (no potatoes) for about 3 day, with lots of water. After 3 days, have some potatoes, brown rice, fish and chicken for another 3 days, then introduce more healthy food to reach a normal diet such as wholemeal bread and pasta, cous cous, lentils, beans and pulses, nuts, then have the odd treat!
If you go on any fad diet/cut out whole food gps etc, it plays havoc with your skin and can make your bowel habits a bit nasty! Wth the fruit ad veg you are at least getting a lot of vitmins, mineras etc so it will also help skin, hair etc.
In the initial days of fruit and veg, you can lose a good few pounds so good luck!

The worst thing you can do is stop eating. Drinking water is one of the keys.
The absolutely best advice I can give you is to check-out the book "Body For Life" by Bill Phillips. He pretty much guarantees that you can transform your body in 12 weeks. I did and it worked. I followed it to a T and took it to the absolute edge. I was so impressed that since then I have bought 60 copies as gifts. EVERYONE I gave the book to was stunned by the results.

Drink lots of ice cold water. Your body has to heat it up to body temperature, so that helps burns calories.
Write down every thing you eat. An eating diary helps tremendously.
For every meal...balance 1) protein (size of your palm), 2) starch (size of your fist), 3) vegetable (fist size of better), 4) fruit (fist size or better). The balance helps keep you satisfied so you don't feel hungry between meals.
Snacks aren't necessarily bad. They will keep you from getting so hungry that you binge at your next meal. Just have something low fat like wheat crackers.

I've lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It truly feels like magic!
Get started today!

cut out all desserts. even tho it seems like it's impossible......you gotta do it. and exercise for at least one hour every other day, and on the off days exercise for 30 minutes. something cardio like running or something that stresses you a bit and gets your heart rate up.
