Actually no, at least not in my case. i mean, im iranian my mother tongue is persian. my english is ok, i guess!!! lol

the persian literature is very strong with hundreds of outstanding poets over the past few millenniums. they poems are very hard to understand even for some persians, but when you do get to understand them they give you some certain emotions. over the years some non-iranians have tried to translate these books to their native language (mainly english) i've read those translations and although they are very good and sound very close to the original poems, they still fail to bring up those certain emotions.

as a translator i have to say that it is possible to translate the the poem in such a way that the effect intended by the poet is transmitted to the reader in the second language...however it is almost impossible to do so using the same words, rhyme, metric and other literary devices due to differences in structure between languages...

Very difficult, I'd say. Poetry depends upon the compression of ideas and languages into small amounts of language, and often the language can be figurative or idiomatic.
