If he has energy when he is awake I doubt it is anemia, malnutrition or a thyroid disorder. Some people just need more sleep. I think 15 hours is recommended at that age, so it isn't that much more. Plus you also may find he gets up in the middle of the night and plays quietly for an hour or two.

My daughter is 18 months and sleeps from 7:30p to 6:30a (would sleep longer If i didn't get her up for me to go to wk) She naps from about 10-11:30 then again 3:30- 5:30. i would say this sounds pretty similar to your son. I don't think there is a problem because she is completely normal in all of her activities. Alot of children usually drop that second nap but i think my daughter hasn't because I keep her on a very good schedule and that sounds like what you have done also. Maybe your son is just very adjusted to it. i wouldn't worry unless his doctors have a problem with it.

I actually have a 17 month previous son. He additionally sleeps properly and places himself to sleep, yet we've a had some boughts like yours. Is she getting her molors? attempt some toddler motrin and spot if it enables, as she may well be in discomfort via teething. Teething discomfort can final some weeks. jointly as no longer effortless, a new child could have a UTI and not utilising a fever so it may desire to be properly worth checking that out, however the crotch grabbing is in all probability her exploring her physique, that's thoroughly conventional. maybe you're putting her to mattress too early and he or she isnt' drained yet? If she remains taking 2 naps that's in all probability time to get her to a minimum of one nap, or circulate the nap until now so she gets drained on the perfect time for mattress.

at about 1 year they need 12-14 hours of sleep a day so not really too much because he may be awake a few times during the night and you not know it
but try to keep his 2 naps at about 2 hours each instead of 3

Wow, that sounds like a lot of sleep. When my daughter was that age she only slept, maybe 7 hours at night and 2 hours for naps. I know, that isn't that much. But she didn't like to sleep. I read somewhere that at that age they should be getting about 12 hours of sleep.

My mom told me that my little sister slept a whole lot like that when she was a baby and she was really worried about her so she took her to the doctor and they said there was nothing wrong with her. And she has 5 other kids and none of us ever slept like that. But my little sister is 15 years old now and she is still fine. So I wouldn't think it's anything to worry about.

There is nothing wrong you are just very lucky!
I know lots of babies and they are all completely different, one sleeps as much as yours and one only sleeps 8 hours a night and no daytime naps! Most are somewhere inbetween.

Different people need different amounts of sleep. Babies are no different. He knows what he needs, and is telling you he needs it. Count your blessings that he does and get stuff done! I had one who slept like that, then a firecracker of a baby that only slept 8 hours out of the day--trust me, your blessed!

So long as he is eating properly, plays hard, and his habits haven't changed drastically (sudden lethargy when he used to be active, or eating half what he used to), let him be--he's fine.
