My 60 yr old mother had a stroke within the last month. She is home now recovering and today she received a letter in the mail stating that she will be fired in 30 days. She is a receptionist for a local school but has been employed there for less than 1 year. Will this affect her disability insurance and if so does she need to get a lawyer?

It depends on her policy, however when I went out, my company took me 'off the books' as they called it, and it didn't affect my disability pay. So, it would depend on her policy, it would depend on if she was approved for short term or long term, or if she was on short term and NEEDED long term in the future... like after they fire her? I would definitely speak with an Attorney, just so she knows her rights. Best Wishes for your Mother's recovery.
