I always prefer the comb. I've tried the irons and they just don't seem to do the job as well. My hair is relaxed now, so a flat iron is fine for styling, but for straightening African American hair...gotta be the comb.

Get a comb and hair oven and press your hair. It is less stressful because you are not pulling as much as with an iron. Also, invest in the oven it heats top and bottom, where as doing it the old-fashioned way on top of the stove provides uneven heat distribution. Also, the comb gets very, very close to the scalp.

I have a friend who is a natural hair dresser and she got married last year. She had her natural fro pressed out and put into the prettiest bun. Her hair was LAID and not a strand out of place! Couldn't have done that with an iron.

The Straightener.

i tried a hot comb and it burned my hair =\\\\\
i was pretty mad.

I suggest that you invest in an expensive ceramic flat iron like Paul Mitchell or a Helen of Troy or even a CHI.
out of all the flat irons i've used, the expensive ones worked the best.

Also use heat protectant products so your hair doesn't get damaged. [Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum is a really good product]

Hope I Helped!
