Yes but realistically No..
The reason it could is trees do use carbon in photosynthesis but planting them strictly in the north is not a perfect as during the winter trees are dormant in the north and actually reverse their carbon effects causing carbon emissions. With that said trees would be better to plant in the equator area thus reducing deforestation and keeping the soil intact.
On the other hand trees are only a temporary storage for carbon as once the tree dies they begin to release carbon as they rot.
So Trees can offset carbon emissions as measurements do show a reduction during the summer and increase in winter during dormancy but this is only a temporary reduction and a temporary storage so long term carbon missions will NOT be offset by planting trees. But like all great projects you must start somewhere.
Hope this helps

basically no
the tree do use carbon which they take from the atmosphere and lock it away thus cleaning the air of carbon but to use this as an offset for carbon emissions we would have to stop cutting trees down on the whole planet for it to be effective
example for every tree planted 5 are cut down somewhere else so the offset is irrelevant
the only real way to offset carbon emissions is to reduce them in the first place planting a tree because you burn fuel is like putting a plaster on a arterial bleed

Although Carbon Dioxide is a greenhouse gas, it has very little effect on global warming. Solar activity is the main cause of global warming and cooling. The best reason for planting a tree is to create an environment for other plants and animals to thrive in, thus improving biodiversity.

Well, it would offset carbon dioxide emission, because plants use CO2 to make energy.
I guess if the emitted carbon combined with 2 atoms of oxygen, then the plants could offset it, but I don;t see how else because we learned all the formulas last year in school and none of them (as I recall) mentioned carbon by itself

The answer is yes, but not that much. What really offsets co2 emissions is rain forrest because there are so many trees per square area and they are types of trees that produce use more C02.

you will desire to be greater particular and supply greater information: what are your carbon emissions like? the place are u placed? what's the land kind and acreage available? Temperatures, climate, irrigation centers... the determination must be good and expert in case you pick to offset business point emissions. Else, purely plant despite grows nicely, rapid and extensive on your backyard

To make any significant change you will have to plant lots of trees and especially those which remain green throughout the year.
Its a good start so do it if you are planning to.
