I am a christian myself and I am very interested in learning about other religions. Keep in mind that I strive to not be a judgemental person and some of my VERY close friends believe some of these religions and I don't think any differently.
Does anyone else think that Moromonisim and Scientology are cults????

Only certian sects of mormons are consider cult like, because they are polygimist. Most mormons do not practice poligamy.
Scientology isnt a cult, it helps people and some of the nicest, truest people i know are scientologists. Most of the wacko story's are false or "mediafide"or jumbled to make it look bad because we are different. We dont believe in Xenu, that is made up...so are most of the critisism around scientology. You shouldnt assume it is a cult just because others think so. Go and find out for yourself.

Mormons have some unique ideas that is true, but it is a family based religion that seems to result in some good things. Scientology on the other hand is deadly. Check out http://www.xenu.net if you have not. It is packed full of into. I respect other religions, but I do not condone cults.

I define a cult as a religious group which has extra Biblical Revelation and strong central control by one person or a small committee of leaders. In that Mormonism, Scientology, and Jehovah's Witnesses all meet that definition.. Jim

All religions are cults,the only thing that separates a religion from a cult is the number and influence of it's followers. At one time the Christians were just this silly cult that worshipped some dead guy the romans killed. Then they caused enough trouble and gained enough influence that Constantine made them the official religion,converted and killed a ton of followers of other faiths who refused to obey in order to save his kingdom from a lot of strife. Now it's one of the biggest religions in the world and it gets to decide who's a "cult".

Scientology is a cult from what I hears.
