I am supposed to help my friend paint inside of her apt tonight but its storming outside and there is 50%-78% humidity outside. She called a painting company and they claim if your not using KILLZ then you are ok? I thought differently. Does anyone know the truth? Shes not living there, shes moving in saturday, but it is supposed to be raining another few days.

Painting inside when it's raining outside is OK. It may take a bit longer to dry than it would if there weren't so much humidity.

Painting the EXTERIOR would be a totally different story. You need dry weather to do that.

Your question says exterior but the description says paint inside. Which is it?
Painting outside in the rain - NO
Painting inside with high humidity - YES but run the air conditioning to lower the interior humidity

Are you painting inside or outside? Your question was not clear. You said exterior, which is the outside of a building. Interior is inside, and as long as there is not a lot of moisture inside the room , you should be alright. Of course, you know you cannot paint the outside of a building when it is raining.

You have me confused. Your question is about painting outside while its raining. In your followup you talk about painting inside while it is raining. Which is it?

If you are trying to paint outside while it is raining you need to have your head examined.

If you are painting inside while it is raining outside then it will be okay to go ahead. With the humidity that high it might take a little longer to dry, but you can still paint.

Humidity will only slow the drying time, not hurt anything, unless the water is running down the walls. Not sure what using Kilz would have to do with it. It's raining here and I am painting and I used Kilz as a primer/sealer. Have done it for years. You did mean INTERIOR, didn't you?

Do not paint outside. If you paint inside run the AC to lower the humidity.

don't sweat the weather outside, just keep it warm inside and paint your brains out.
just prime if one color is darker on the wall then the one you are applying.
TSP bad/dirty walls and prime if necessary or just do two coats if necessary. let dry thoroughly between coats.
