Yes, David was a descendant of Ruth, but he was also a Levite. Levites are of patrilineal descent.

Yes, we realize that our future depends upon conversions -- someone periodically destroys half of our population.

Yes, we know that David descended from a convert, in fact we celebrate it each year. I think the holiday is Shavu'ot.

We don't need to bother keeping track of the line of David. We will know the messiah because he will be the King (human) of Israel when there is peace on earth.

You ask great questions!

Ruth married Boaz, who WAS a Jew. Rahab, who is also in the line of Jesus somewhere, was also a convert. Mary, Jesus's mother, was also directly descended of David.

Yes, I believe they know but in that the descendants were based upon the males' lineage (Boaz) who was Naomi's kinsman redeemer. It also shows that God will use whomever He chooses that will humble themselves under Him. Yes, the Jews are God's chosen people because God knew that His Son Jesus was going to be a descendant of them. It's not that they are the only people God will use.

The only way to be a part of the inheritance is you have to go back to the beginning.........

Exd 12:48 And when a stranger shall sojourn with thee, and will keep the passover to Yahweh, let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall be as one that is born in the land: for no uncircumcised person shall eat thereof.

Exd 12:49 One law shall be to him that is homeborn, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among you.

Mal 3:6 For I [am] Yahweh, I change not; therefore ye sons of Yaaqob are not consumed.

Mal 3:7 Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept [them]. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith Yahweh of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return?
