Open discussions of sex and graphic images don't bother me, and I don't believe we are being "bombarded" with sex. What we ARE being bombarded with is a variety of choices - more choices than we have ever had before. If you don't like the fashion or entertainment magazines that discuss sexual issues, there are a variety of other magazines that don't. If you don't like the television programs or movies that feature nudity or sexually related humor, there are a variety of television programs and movies that don't. Today we're being offered more and more choices. Simply because some people make the choice to see media that they then find offensive is no reason to make it unavailable. Rather, people should choose those things that are more in line with their values and beliefs. If someone asks if you watch such-and-such popular show, and that show is one that you feel uncomfortable with, share some input on your favorite shows, maybe they'll get hooked. There are still plenty of choices out there, I know, because many of the programs that I watch don't have nudity, violence or sexual content, even though I'm not bothered by those that do.

Call me old fashioned or conservative... but what people/media don't talk a bout is how special and sacred sex is between a married man and woman. This relationship is the foundation of a strong family and promotes healthy relationships in children who grow up as a product of that relationship.
The media has perverted an act that was once considered special and sacred so that people don't have to feel guilty or shameful when they fall to the temptations and desires of a society taught that it doesn't need to wait for anything or make a thoughtful decision. The media glamorizing any kind of sexual relationship or activity condones and supports the antithesis of delayed gratification- a great trait nearly extinct in America.

I agree, sex in the media makes it seem like some major goal that you, as a human, need to achieve. Like you said, virgins suffer from self-esteem issues the more they keep seeing sex everywhere and billions of couples all over the place. I think somebody should make some changes for the sake of confidence in kids and teens still growing up in school. I mean, it's completely normal. Humans have sex and enjoy it. There's nothing offensive. But when it messes with confidence in people, then I think some changes need to be made.

I agree people talk about sex too much, and they don't ever really talk about staying with one person. The media really promotes sleeping around and the idea of waiting till you are in "love" is not often discussed anymore. I think it diminishes the act when it is over-discussed. All you can do is not talk about it a great deal yourself, and when you are around people who are over-discussing it, change the subject. Its so over-talked its sort of the only thing people seem to have opinions on sometimes.

Yes, before the media came along, no one ever had sex at all. They didn't know how, and no one was around to teach them. All children born before the advent of the media were products of parthenogenesis.
