(for men) Do you guys in USA tip hairdressers? If you do how much and how?

I m new intermational student living in NJ. Im from cyprus. In cyprus we dont tip hairdressers... But i ve been in a hairdresser in here and i kind a got the feeling that people tip them.

We do! As a male with a very simple hair style my hair cuts are usually from 10-15$ I tip no less than 2$ no more than 5$ Depends on how it looks.

I tip about 20%. I think that's a high tip, but I don't have time to get my hair cut as often as I should and she gives me a cut that looks good even when it grows too long. If I got it cut more frequently, I'd probably tip less. I been using the same person for years and she cuts it exactly the way I want it.

It's like tipping your bartender or waiter/waitress. Hairdresser make you look good, and feel good. I usually tip 20% of what I pay for the service. For example, my $55 haircut, I tip my hairdresser $15-20.

Tip a hairdresser???

I go to a barber and do not tip the barber. I think most barbers in real barber shops would look at you funny if you tipped them.

There are exceptions to every rule: I tipped a barber once, when he came to my great-grandfather's house to give him a haircut and a shave after granddad had fallen and pulled his back and was not able to leave the house just before his 100th birthday.
