A bed is not going to help--he'll just be able to get out of it and roam the house! You need a crib tent at this point, available at BAbies R Us and similar places.

I actually put my son in a toddler bed at 14 months because he pulled himself up and fell over the side, mattress was all the way down and everything too...He landed on his head and scared the crap out of me. I took him to the ER and everything b/c I was convinced he might of done damage to his spine, I am a first time mom so ya know I freaked out a little
Turns out he just had a bump. Toddler bed are lower to the ground so I bought one with the rails on the bed and then added another rail at the bottom (u may need 2 rails I had one side was against the wall)
I did this, the extra rails, bc he kept falling out, he eventually stopped throwing himself all around the bed and i took the rail off. It worked for me just thought I would share!

When he can actually get OUT of the crib. My son did this before he was a year old... and he was very good at it!He actually got so mad one night for being put in his crib he broke it!!! (plastic parts can only hold up to so much pushing and pulling from a stronge baby LOL!) so we changed to a toddler bed and he is happier in it and likes playing on it now (hes almost 3 now). So when he can actually get out of it without aid of anything like blankets. My son was good at bunching up the blankets and climbing out, until we took them out.. then he discovered he could get out without them! Good luck hope this helped!

We did no longer have a baby mattress. All my young infants went immediately into the two a twin or complete-length mattress. The mattress grew to become into pushed up against the wall and had a rail on the different element. youngster #a million moved at 19 months to free up the crib for toddler sis. youngster #2 moved into the entire-length mattress with vast sis at 18 months b/c she in no way slept properly interior the crib besides and grew to become into asking to sleep along with her sister. youngster #3 moved right into a twin mattress at 22 months.

I think the biggest mistake people make is moving their kid into a bed too early, because they climbed out of a crib. Trust me, a bed just makes it easier for them to get out! If he is trying to climb out, I would recommend getting a crib tent so they can't - you can get them at Babies R Us or One Step Ahead catalog.... I wouldn't recommend moving them into a bed until closer to 3, when they can understand better to stay in the bed.

I moved daughter to the floor at about 1yr. she was climbing out and could get out the tents too.Placed the matress on the floor and then toddler-proofed the room. Once she stopped rolling off she was sleeping in a toddler bed at 18 months and my son went straight into a twin bed (we brought bunk beds, still seperate, and have him in the top bunk which has rails) and he was sleeping in that @ 16 months.

Well my son is 21 months and he's still in his crib...it ain't broke, I'm not fixin' it! LOL! My mom and pediatrician told me that when they start climbing out of the crib is when they're ready. Otherwise, it's around 2 years old. I hope this helps!

When he won't stay IN the crib! My grandsons are two and three and share a twin bed with a side rail that tucks under the mattress...so they won't fall out.
