There is no direct train service from Philadelphia to Grand Central. As everyone previous has explained, Amtrak, as well as New Jersey Transit, goes to Penn Station. (you can take a cab or the "1", "2", or "3" subway to Times Square and transfer for the shuttle to Grand Central)

The best option would be to take Amtrak since it wouldn't involve switching trains (unlike taking SEPTA to Trenton and then grab the NJ Transit Northeast Corridor line)

No.

You can get from Philly to NYC Penn Station by Amtrak or NJ Transit. You would need to take a subway from Penn Station NY to Grand Central. You can take the E from Penn Station to 42ND street and then take the 7 or the shuttle to Grand Central.

No you'd end up at Penn Station. It is about 2 miles away. You could then take a cab or mass transit to Grand Central.

From Philly you would take a train into Penn Station.
Grand Central Terminal currently serves only MTA's Metro-North Commuter Railroad Company, usually abbreviated as Metro-North. It hasn't served Amtrak since 1991.

I don't think there is one that goes straight to Grand Central, but you can take Amtrak to New York from Philly, and then a regional rail to grand central. Good luck!
