My son will be 3 years old in april, so i was wondering when he will be entitled to recieve the nursery vouchers, ON his 3rd birthday, or will it be after that?

Also, can someone tell me how they work, how many hours they are for?

You will get free sessions at the beginning of the term AFTER your child turns 3. It entitles you to 5 sessions of approx 3 hrs (depending on the pre-school/nursery) a week

If he is 3 in April then you can Claim from September. The nursery will do it for you and you just have to pay the difference. You do not physically get a voucher - it is a paper exercise. My Nursery said they automatically claim for the child when they are due.

Call the Nursery and they will make all the arrangements for you. You can get 2 and a half days (they say 5 sessions)

If he is 3 in March you can claim from April. Bit daft. Hope this helps

Your son is entitled to a place at a nursery school begining the term after he turns 3. You don't actuly recieve 'vouchers' to use at his school. It is just a term the govt use to explain how the LEA is funded. You need to start looking at and applying for nurserys or schools that have a nursery class asap to ensure your son gets a place. He will normally go every weekday for a morning or an afternoon session (most schools give you one or the other). Council run nurserys are free.

They get them from the start of the first term after they turn 3. Like someone said before.

Don't hold your breath though. Mine does 21 hours a week over 2.5 days. Even with the education grant it is still costing us £90 a month for a 4-week month and over £100 for a 5-week month. Term time is not included either so if you want them in during term time you have to pay full wack.
My daughter is in the local college nursery. Her sessions are 2.5 hours, not including lunch times.

My daughter is 3 in october but she won't be entitled to the 5 free sessions until after xmas! I'm baffled as to how this is worked out also but this is what her pre school teacher told me so I'm just going along with it!

They are entitled to 5 free sessions a week or you can use it in whole days, like 2 & 1/2 days. Get your sons name down for a school as soon as though, or you may miss out!

all as the above people have stated... the one thing though i have noticed is that the max is £75 a fortnight in term time only, as my 3 year old attends a private nursery 3 full days a week.

howdy I even have used the vouchers. undecided approximately nursery, my mum seems after my son jointly as I artwork. I have been given the vouchers month-to-month and gave them to my mum and he or she cashes them in. you would be able to desire to pay tax on them if the guy finding once you youngster isnt a registered childminder (like my mum). you're entitled to £30 a week for non registered carers and £50 for registered childminders yet you're no longer taxed on those.
