i am 16 now and thinking of joining the marine corps. i have had surgery on my elbow a few years back and have a screw in there. i also have had ankle surgery and have stables in there. will these past injuries disqualify me.

As long as you can pass the prequalifications.
Certain amount of situps, pushups, running, etc

Partial list of disqualifying medical diagnoses:
o Vision not correctable to 20/20
o Substandard color vision (Does not apply for Marine Corps or Nurse Option)
o History of asthma
o Acute or chronic cardiac/pulmonary conditions
o Chronic skin disorders such as:
• Cystic acne
• Psoriasis
• Atopic dermatitis
• Eczema
o Ununited fractures or major joint surgery
o Arthritis Seizure disorders
o Severe motion sickness susceptibility
o Alcohol or drug abuse
• Department of Defense Medical Examination Review Board (DODMERB) schedules and reviews all physical examinations for service academies and NROTC candidates; candidates applying for more than one military academy or NROTC scholarship program require only one physical examination
• If DODMERB determines a disqualifying condition exists, written request is required for waiver consideration; some medical conditions may be waived after further review
• Applicants will be notified by DODMERB of any additional requirements for medical history consultations or diagnostic tests
• Surgical, laser, or mechanical procedures to correct defective visual acuity are absolute cause for disqualification; no waivers will be recommended
• Keratoconus or a history of treatment for this condition is absolutely disqualifying

Let me commend you for your dedication and willingness to step up, you should check with the recruiting office to see if these injuries would disqualify you.

i hope so. the marine is no joke, especially during war times. and if that's the reason you wanna join up (war) then i suggest you wait till a war comes along worth running to your death for. remember bush is an oil man, and if your not getting a cut you have no business protecting another persons assets.

but, that's just me talking.

No i wouldnt think so but then again i've never dealt with that but my boyfriend has, i'm joining too and i'm signin up this year but aslong as you can still push youself physically i'd think it'd be ok

They will from any frontline duties.

But there are many other oppertunities behind the front-line. These are just as important as they keep everything running.

nah long as your upfront with them and can survive boot camp, i suggest san dieagos place nice and you'll be there a year or longer too

Talk it over straightfoward with your recruiter, he or she is the
best one to determine if you will or will not be eligible
