If you look at you stapler (as least my swingline has this) you can rotate the plate that bends the staples ends 180 degrees. one way bends them inward (normal) the other bends them outwards.

If the staples are bent outward, it is easier to remove them. This can be used for temporary stapeling.

the place the stapler presses down, there's a silver plate with a screw interior the middle. Pull up in this plate and turn it around any incorrect way, then your staples will bend inward.

well maybe it works just as well as staples bent inward. they'll prolly still hold the papers together...i knew this already (that it did that) i guess it depends which way you prefer it. my guess is that it still works both ways.
