is stop the same as fixer?

They are not the same and "...if film laden with developer is put straight into the fixer without going through the stop bath then an iridescent sheen, dichroic fog, forms on the surface of the film..."

no non nonononono

you need to do things in steps, not sure if your workingon the film developing or paper developing, but there are stages for reasons if you dont go in order your photo will mess up turn colors, turn black also you have to set it in for the time frame as well and rinse it minum 15 in water after everything is done

NO THEY ARE NOT THE SAME, HOWEVER YOU CAN USE FIXER AS STOP IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ACETIC ACID TO MAKE THE FIXER.
