Curious: are vacations scheduled by 1st requests put in, do you go by seniority of staff, do you draw out names and let those people get first choice? My husband has to put down all his vacation time in November for the following year to ensure he gets the time off---goes by seniority in his office. By the time the list goes through all employees, very few dates are left for last minute/spontaneous time off. So, now my center is wanting to change from 1st requests to drawing out names and letting that person pick their choices. This, of course, is not going to work well because most of the dates that my husband and I have planned trips around are times others have just now thought of requesting---I requested my time (in writing & verbally) in December, 06 for the whole year of 2007.
I ,personally, feel that seniority should have a bearing on requests because the person has been dependable and realiable for "x" amount of time and it gives them something to look forward to in futur

Here's my thought..Drawing dates out of a hat make YOUR vacation no longer YOURS. I don't think your employer should dictate when YOUR vacation will be. I know that between my husbands job and the financial expense of actually taking the trip/vacation has to be planned by us...Who's to say THEIR date is financially possible. I also think that if the center owner or your boss is not willing to let YOU tell her/him when they will be taking THEIR vacation.....then object. I think that you should be able to keep the dates you already gave them and argue the fact. Good Luck...Daycare centers are a dime a dozen...look for an employer who lets YOU be in control of your life.

Well, I sure don't think drawing names is a good way, either. I think since you already requested that time off you should get it. But I also think that the only reason you don't like this new idea is b/c then you won't have first pick of vacation time. I know how tough it is, though, having to share vacation times. The company I work for does that too. But it's first come, first serve. No two people with the same position can be out at the same time. So we have to work around each other. It starts at the beginning of the year - we all email the lady and see who gets it there first!

I artwork for and likewise am the director of a nursery college. I even have been with the employer for 2 many years. it rather is is an extremely staggering interest. I very plenty savor it. My adventure incorporates sure hours, with sure numbers of young infants, and shape. that's no longer an afternoon care section, so it may well be distinctive, yet i come across it a touch ordinary that there is not greater shape in touch with this center. it is so shown that young infants do exactly right in a based ecosystem--maybe it replaced into in basic terms a bad day. If obtainable, i might see in case you additionally could make yet another bypass to, talk over with the countless different workers, attempt to get a real experience for the placement. To me that's considered necessary for workers to be enjoying what they are doing. That way the youngsters are doing properly. finally, the place we are residing i think of there are distinctive expectancies for various centers. At our preschool, all instructors are required to have a level in education and ideally certification. Our aides do no longer choose ranges, yet all workers choose clearances. good success with you interest hunt.

How they schedule vacations would depend upon the individual Child care facility and their policies. If you have a particular child care facility in mind you need to ask them this question.
