You can use allot of things to make a net but very few of them are actually professional.

This is what I did, I took a silk rope net sort of speak that had holes about 14 in check in each weave. It actually was a blanket net made of silk rope.

I tied rope to all four corners and laid that net just offf the dock. I had to stand out there and prep it up.

five hours later my friends and I grabbed the rops and yanked that baby up as fast as we could and caught so much fish we could not lift it on the dock. It was so funny. I caught more than I baragined for and this trick does work.

Make sure you bait it in the middle to draw fish.
We used a nap sack with soybean meal cake for the bait.

Okay figure a potato per person.I don`t know how many servings you need,so I can`t give exact measurements.Peel, and cube the potatoes.Add to cold water.Bring to a boil.Add salt and pepper.Boil for 15 minutes or until tender.Drain.Place back in pot with burner off.Leave on the burner for a few minutes to dry up any leftover water. Now,mash them well.Add some milk and butter. The quantity of milk will depend on how thick you like them. You can stop here and you will have wonderful mashed potatoes,or if you want to take it to the next level, you can add some sour cream and chives, shredded cheddar,or roasted garlic. You can also boil the potatoes in some chicken stock if you want,or add some at the end while you are adding the milk and butter.

I made one before as a school project.

IT TOOK FOREVER!

Best to just spend the $15, and buy a nylon castnet....

But if you still want to make your own, you'll need an 8" long, 3/8" diameter dowl rod, and a speacial weaving tool, you can find at a bait shop....plus a dozen rolls of twine....and the lead weights.....

After all this, it's cheaper to just buy one.

You can't make a decent castnet yourself. It is an art passed on through generations.Go hang out at a dock somewhere. Someone will help you, loan you one or give you an old one. Fishermen are friendly, helpful human beings.

Good Question.I've been trying my own ways but with out luck I think it's best to leave it up to someone who knows and buy one.
