If even a small percentage stay here as ghosts, presences or hauntings or whatnot, wouldn't we be overrun by now, given a history of thousands of years. And where are all the cavemen ghosts?
note: I think it is all bunk. Just so you know. I just want to know how many kick the bucket every second I sit here typing.

as you can see that is why we will be overpopulated very soon -- hope this helped and not sure about caveman ghosts

well i dont believe that many do stay here after death
i believe that most hauntings are one of two things
1 - residual energy
2 - human energy
most ghosts that are sighted are simply left over energy repeating and replaying
that is why they will walk through walls that no longer exist and will not communicate or acknowledge anyone there
the classic case of this is the roman soldiers who are seen to be walking 15 inches below the surface on what was an old roman road
poltergeist cases , things moving ,noises etc is usually down to human energy .... usually adolescent females with hormones going mad
they need a release of energy and this energy is manifested in you classic poltergeist way

What's all bunk? Ghosts are lingering spirits (if you believe in this hoo-rah) not all of the dead linger on this plane (why waste the time?) only people obsessed with the material world and such would remain as a 'ghost'......and as for your second question? = not enough.
