Its on my neck. About 2" by 2" has black blue and yellow. It's two years old and I am getting laser surgery to remove it. Any idea how many sessions it will take?

We have a recruitment center we work with. They bring us recruits for cover ups and turning, for example two close together tattoos into a single tattoo to meet certain guidelines.

I am not sure about that branch of service but we have referred recruits to laser centers we know. We have been told that if you have even one laser treatment, it shows you have started removal and they will take you. Check that out. Your blue will take the longest to get out. It can take even ten sessions.

It is my personal opinion that the laser folks are doing far too many sessions too close together. I believe if they were spread out a lot further apart, there would still be the same amount of color absorption by the body at a significant savings.

Professional tattoos usually require 6-10 treatments for complete clearing. Also, results depend on the colors used on the tattoo (green is the worst to remove) and the color of your skin. A good candidate for tattoo removal in a timely fashion without scarring is medium to fair skin, dark but not dense ink (black/brown), superficial depth of ink and the preferred locations are the arm, chest, buttocks, anywhere with good circulation. Medium or fair skin patients react well because the light will be able to selectively target the ink instead of the dark skin. Dark ink that is not dense is favorable because the light is more attracted to darker colors so darker ink is fragmented better than yellow ink. Density is also a factor, the more ink, the more there is to fade. Superficial ink is also favorable because it is closest to the surface of the skin so the laser doesn't need to penetrate so many skin layers to get to it. Results are quicker. Areas such as the arm or chest have more blood flow and are a better vehicle for the immune system which is what removes the ink. Areas such as the ankle or fingers have poor circulation.

Hope that helps!

Basically what they said above, about size, depth, and all that fun crap.

I actually just started my laser removal today. Good god, it f'in hurts, it's exactly what they describe it as. Anyways, supposedly the blue and black will come out easier than yellow. The average is 1-5 for amateur and 5-10 for professional so i hope that helps!

Also depending what branch, the Army is famous for teaching cosmetic surgery to it's doctors using other army guys. So that might be something worth looking into!
