Sounds like your daughter is fine--she's doing better than my son did at that age! Micah didn't start speaking clearly until he was almost 4-and he still has problems with certain words. (he's 5 now) Every child grows and develops at their own pace. Since she's learning 2 languages at the same time she might blend the words together sometimes. Either way, she's going to be fine. And it's much better for her to learn a 2nd language now. Good luck!

Between the ages of 0-5 babies can learn any language. They can make sense of words we can't even begin to imagine. Babies can be at all different levels. I used to take care of 7 kids at once. Needless to say, I had 2 boys (1.5yrs old) that were about a month apart. While one could talk more than anything, the other couldn't, and where one could walk, the other couldn't. I recommend both parents speaking both languages. With each parent speaking a different language its probably hard to decifer what is what, where as if she hears both constantly, she can decide between the accents that she constantly hears and find her own. My stepson grew up around spanish and english, hes 15 now and can only speak english but understands spanish. Keep both languages flowing, babies are more capable of learning than you think, each on just has a different time. Hope this helps.

Yes, that is why. She has her words that she hears the most (and her favorites) but the rest of her words are still waiting to come out. She is learning twice as much as most other babies. She is working out what is English and what is Spanish. Once she does that the change will happen over night. She will go from her ten words to a full vocabulary. Just be patient she will get there and have two languages!

Just keep an eye on it and compare it to her overall development. My son didn't talk at 22 months and he ended up needing speech therapy, so his "jibber" was truly related to a speech issue. Now, my daughter was talking at 18 months...truth! Honestly, she had a vocabulary of at least 20 real words. She is 7 and hasn't stopped talking yet!
All that to say, each child is different. You have to make that call. No one thought my son had an issue but me. I pursued it and discussed with his pediatrician and later speech therapist. Five years later and we know he had a speech issue and later learning issue. So, it's good we jumped on it when we did and got all the necessary services.
Good looking, dad!

I am in the exact same situation! my step son is around 25 months and he is pretty much the same way. Children being raised in Bi-lingual house holds do have a harder time at first, but in the long run they will excel. "Combining Spanish and English makes it confusing for your little one to separate the different verbal rules that are important for mastering a language." By the time your child reaches her later elementary school years, you may see her demonstrating above-average vocabulary and comprehension skills. She also may have an easier time picking up other new languages!

My daughter was 2 and I had never heard her really say anything, and was getting worried but our son who is 4 years older said she talks to me all the time. Every child is different, could be she's just not ready to talk yet. One day she could start and never stop, like my daughter who is now 14 and fine. I would say not to worry to much. If you get to worried you can always ask your doctor.

kids speak at different times I wouldn't worry too much my son spoke late but once he turned 3 he was speaking non stop and now that he is in preschool he speaks even better I grew up with a mexican mom and a german dad and I was talking at 2 whereas my sister didn't start talking much till she was 3
As long as she learns new words I wouldn't worry but if you are concerned take her to a pediatrician who can reccomend a speech therapist or a hearing test

Every child learns to speak at a different age, she's fine. If she's learning words and can communicate with you, then no need to worry. My nephew hardly said a thing, until he turned 3, now we can't shut him up!
