I'm 15, and I'm starting to get dark hair on my chest, belly, and back. Before there was hair, but it was light. It's getting darker. I want to get the hair off, but I can't exactly set up an appointment at a salon and get it waxed off... that's just out of the question here (because of my home situation and stuff). What should I do to keep the hair off?

I'm assuming you're a guy? Well you're 15 and turning from a boy into a man. Men have hair on their bodies. If there's a lot of it and you don't like it, and if professional waxing is out of the question, what about the OTC hair removal products? It's not exactly the same thing but I've used a foam-type hair removal product called veet on my (feminine) body hair with pretty good success. It goes on like shaving cream and scrapes off with a plastic razor-like thingy. Works really well and doesn't smell bad, either.

First off, calm down. At your age, these things seem like a big deal, but they aren't really.

Second, it is normal and attractive for a man to have hair on his chest and belly. If girls your age make fun of that, then they are just immature and used to very young boys who have not grown chest hair yet.

Third, do not start shaving it. It will be a hassle to maintain the shaving, it will dry your skin and it might leave red spots. Also, eventually you will stop shaving it, and then it will grow back darker and thicker. Just leave your chest alone.

Now... as for your back... if you just have a few spots where you are growing a little bit of hair (like on your lower back above your butt or on the backside of your shoulders) then this is normal. Lots of guys have it. Leave it alone. But if you are growing huge patches of hair on your back, then you can consider waxing it. Do NOT shave it. First off, it will be difficult to shave your back but more importantly, you don't want it to grow back funny.

I don't see how your home situation would stop you from going to a salon. Do you mean you can't tell your parents? Then can't you go yourself? If not, then maybe you are too young to be worrying about it. In a year or two, you'll be able to drive yourself to the salon. Otherwise, you can always go to the grocery store and buy a home waxing kit, but if it is on your back, you are going to need a friend or a girlfriend or a sibling to help you.

But really, man, it's natural. Just leave it be.

u can shave it but then it will only grow back faster and sometimes darker or u can bleach it but in some areas it might not be good. i mean just keep it trimmed until u can get it waxed. u r a male so there is really nothing u can do about it. unless u get some type of prescribed pill that will stop hair growth.

my suggestions would be to either wax it at home (that can hurt but it's quick and lasts longer).

you could shve it but I don't suggest that if grows back fast, prickly, darker and maybe even thicker.

you could use a hair removal cream some of them reek like burning chemicals and skin though.

you could lighten your hair with some kind of hair bleach (not blonde just a lightener) peroxide sometime works or do a few tanning sessions with lemon juice on it....

both places is normal for guys to grow hair. your are going through puberty! I would leave the chest hair be and deal with the lower back hair.

:) hope that helps

My husband had same problem. And he waxed but it was keep on coming back again. And again again now he is tired of it. He said that should have never don en it on first place. If you started you have do all the time and forever. It's grows even more after saving.

You're going through puberty, that's what happens at your age. Guys are supposed to have body hair. When you get older, you'll see that some gals like hairy chests & backs. Be happy with what you have.
