A little info:

250 gig HD hooked up to SATA1 port.
Installing windows from cd.
After partitioning hd for IDE/parrallel whatever and the windows setup installs the system32 files, it automatically reboots after 15 seconds. When the system boots from the HD it gives the message that it is missing the file ntoskrnl.exe

I did this:
expand d:\i386\ntoskrnl.ex_ c:\windows\system32 in Repair mode

This didn't work even though I did it from two different windows cds.

I'm going crazy I think. Someone please help.

Thank you.

Save your data if you can get your system up!

Do a CLEAN install!

Disconnect system from Internet!

Shut down system. Load WIN XP disk
Boot and select new Install. READ THE SCREEN.

Select NEW Install

Delete ALL partitions, Create 2 Partitions, make one 20GB.

Install in a 20GB partition that is free.

Complete installation; install motherboard drivers and utilities from motherboard CD. Install all software and drivers. (XP ONLY)! Install anti virus and Firewall. Shut down system; connect to Internet/SDL Cable.

Boot and go to www.microsoft.com UPDATE, and let this site update your system.

Work/save your data on a different hard drive.
If you have only one hard drive, then save your data in the unused partition. If you save your data on the operating system partition YOU WILL LOSE IT!

which means the memory administration website report extensive kind record is corrupted. could be brought about by using corrupt actual RAM, or by using drivers passing undesirable memory descriptor lists. attempt eliminating one stick of ram and attempt returned, if it fails, swap the sticks and attempt returned.
