I think there's little doubt that Montoya will eventually win in NASCAR and will be a threat to make the Chase as early as next year. I don't think he'll make the Chase this year. It will take time to learn the ovals -- especially short tracks like Bristol and Martinsville.

He'll be an instant threat on the road courses and is likely to be a good qualifier. Ganassi has the money to put him in good equipment.

I think it's a little early to compare him to Tony Stewart as so many "experts" are doing, but I think he has a bright future.

A better question. "Is everyone READY to see what Montoya is going to do TO Nascar?"

Did you watch that race? Honestly, Montoya did not have to crash his teammate. I was rooting for Juan since the start of the season, but this race changed my mind. Pablo knows the track (it was a road course), and hes raced on it many-a-times. There were about 5 laps left. He could have been patient. But NO, he had to be in the lead NOW.

No, he won't and the reason of which would be his kit. there's no question that JPM is a international-classification driving force. regardless of the undeniable fact that, he's making use of for avert, which, undergo in recommendations, is owned now by making use of Cerberus Capital administration, no longer by making use of Chrysler Plymouth or DaimlerChyrsler anymore. What does that would desire to do with something? straight forward. Cerberus is approximately money, organic and straightforward. the corporate would not very own avert to make it effectual in NASCAR or the different form of racing. Cerberus owns avert to earnings financially from it. This loss of interest and venture, blended with the certainty that quite some the Chase drivers will come back from the commonplace suspects-Hendrick, Gibbs, Roush-skill yet another season on the outdoors looking in for Juan Pablo Montoya.

I really like the guy, every interview he seems respectful yet confident...a class act for sure. I hope he brings success to the Ganassi Dodge team cause lord knows they need it.

As for his win, He could of rolled out of bed 15 seconds before the race, not practiced and raced that field with one hand tied behind his back and won...8 Mexican drivers and only 8 to 10 cup regulars...he had the car and is by far one of the best road course drivers ever. Let's see him win on an oval first...Or even better, let me see how he reacts to Bristol...his 1st short track ever...that should be interesting.

I would bet he's already the favorite at the Glen and Sanoma...but, we will have to wait and see on the ovals. NASCAR champs win on the ovals.

Let's see where hes stands in cup at the end of the season. Just because he won a Busch road race means nothing. Less than 10% of the cup races are road races, in fact many teams stick a road racer in the car for the race.

rubbin is racin

I think JPM will eventually do well. He is a good road racer but needs to prove himself against the big boy's on ovals. It is nice to see a driver come over from a different form of racing to see if he can race with the big dogs. The better he is the better the racing and competition.

I like Montoya! But even he knows it, until he wins on an oval he won't be considered successful in NASCAR. Period!

Actually, Busch and Cup are two different animals. Also, I don't know if you consider that a win. It really wasn't very nice to crash his teammate in order to win. If he won with a clean pass, fair and square, then, yes, I would give him kudos, but since he did it in the way he did, not cool. As for the Cup series, haven't really seen him do much. Sorry.

He going to have a learning curve for about 2 years. After that he will be more consistent.
