sansfear: I believe the infallibility of the pope only came into being in the late 19th Century.

Midge: I used to study religion. I care because the world is overcrowded and many who live in poverty suffer and are abused and exploited by others. As for miracles.... I once brought a dried up Bumble Bee back to life! Other minor miracles would take too long to explain. Peace be with you sister.

The principle reason he doesn't is what would happen next. If priestly celibacy were dropped and contraception were approved, people would want to know WHY they had to waste all that time and anxiety following all these rules before. More than anything else, Rome needs to be perceived as consistent.
That's why there have only been two "infallible" pronouncements since infallibility was first promulgated. The popes know it's dynamite because they don't dare make a mistake that could be revealed later. That's why it's only done with inconsequential doctrines like the Immaculate Conception or the Assumption of Mary, nothing to change anyone's life. Before the Church changes on issues like these, every other solution to the priest shortage and other problems will be tried, and Rome is very good at finding "solutions" to try.
As for saints, they don't claim to know ALL the "saints". They merely pick the heroes that seem the most useful for inspiring the faithful. Their criteria may be a little odd, but they know what they're trying to do. You're not going to change them.

What is it to you? Are you a priest? Why do people continue to look at the priesthood through worldly eyes? Jesus made it clear that his Kingdom is not of this world. There will always be ones that slip through and choose the priesthood for the wrong reasons but, hey, Jesus had his Judas too. When it comes to him making Saints---it is not him that makes Saints, it is God that makes Saints. They must have at least 2 bonifide miracles on board before this even happens. Can you do a miracles?

As the church is the bride of Christ so to the priest share in that same way for they are the vicars of Christ. Contraception is an intrinsic evil and would go against the teaching of God
Most saint did not start out that way as most of the apostles but through the conversion of heart they lived a life of heroic virtue

It's not only the Pope, but Catholic tradition.
The use of condoms is considered a hindrance to the act of procreation.
Priests are prohibited from marrying in some Catholic rites because of the literal interpretation of the writings of Paul. If the Church changes, it will in essence admit that either God changed, or that they were somehow wrong before, and that places them in an uncomfortable position.

Priestly celebacy stems from Christ's call to perpetual continence in those who would devote themselves entirely to the kingdom of God. The invitation is found in St Matthew's Gospel (ch 19, v 12) 'Some men are incapable of sexual activity from birth; some have been deliberately made so; and some there are who have freely renounced sex for the sake of God's reign. Let him accept this teaching who can.' (NAB) It appears not many can accept this teaching.
The sexual act was intended by God for procreation. 'Be fertile and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it.' (Gen 1:28) Condoms prevent the sexual act from fulfilling its purpose.
If he's not going to make saints out of mortals who is he going to make them out of. It's reassuring to know that some weren't brilliant - there's hope for you and me yet.

Because Der Pope vants der catholics to multiply and overwhelm the rest of the world.
He's a former Nazi, contraception's against his beliefs as it stops people having children.
As for priests not marrying it's because they have altar boys to ****.

Because then he would be going against the rulings of all the past Popes, calling into question who exactly was infallible, the current pope or all those before him.

because that would make too much sense for someone who was a Nazi.
The panzer pope doesn't have too much upstairs either.
EDIT: if you are married you don't HAVE to leave your property to your wife- depending on the state.
Many states also allow her to waive her "elective share" in a pre-nup.
EDIT2: they allowed mother theresa to force and trick patients to sit there and suffer and die rather than treat them (many of which could have been easily cured). they ignore the pleas of little altar boys when they are bieng molested....
why not leave a widow with nothing and throw her out on the street.they would be doing thier part to promote thier mission, this way they have more poor to provide for. Keeps them in business longer.

I agree. They need to change that whole birth control thing. Or at least clarify it, because it seems some of them have missed the boat. I did hear the church is considering trashing the concept of Limbo, so they actually are making progress!
