Right now ,the rough opening is 34 inches . Since I,m going to size that door to 36 inches . Do I need additional jack studs (two for each side and supported by wood block)or just two will be enough with the king suds.
The house is 10 years .

As a matter of fact, I can,t tell whether the type of frame is platform or balloon . the house is 3 store level

Also can I replace one of the top plate since it has a signicant damage(the one that sit t above the criple stud.

ok get a pen................
1) the R.O. for your new door needs to be 38 to 39 inches wide and the height should stay the same.....
2) make sure there is a stud on bothe sides so you have something to nail to
3) take the new pre- hungh door and lay it on the ground so it swings up in the air.
4) measure and cut your casing and install the trim on that side of the door
5)now you can put the door w/ casing on the swing side facing you....in the opening
6) provided that your stud is plumb you can put the hinge side against the wood and nail it
7) move the latch side upi and down until you get the same reveal all the way around the door nailing as you go....
8)go to the other side and put shims between the jamb and the R.O.... not too tight just snug
9) now you can case that side after cutting off the extra shims
10) now put the hardware on and make sure that the door hits the door stop all the way aropund the door you might have to move the stop i smidge
