It could actually be an ear infection - go to your GP tomorrow and get it checked out. Hope you feel better soon.

Unfortunately, there are no direct outward signs of a broken/cracked rib. However, I do not suggest going to a doctor to find out; all that will happen is the doctor will tell you that you have a cracked rib and to go easy for a while. If it's not a cracked rib, you may have damaged the cartilage between your ribs that allow them to expand as you breathe. Also, in this case, there is nothing a doctor can do, so don't bother going. If you have some painkillers, take them. Otherwise, I'm sorry to tell you that there is absolutely nothing you can do, other than take it easy for a couple weeks.

If nothing shows on your xray do you grind your teeth in your sleep and find that your jaw is sore and stiff in the morning? Are you prone to ear infections or does your diet consist of chewy foods,IE crusty bread?Try a soft diet and see your GP to rule out any ear problems and if still no improvement go back to your dentist and tell them that your still having problems and could possibly grind your teeth. They will probably recommend you try a bite guard which will protect your teeth and jaw during the night..............good luck.

An abscess would have shown up clearly on the xray, they show up on the apex of the tooth and can be easy to spot even by an untrained eye.
If it was an abscess it wouldn't normally effect the whole of your jaw, just the one particular tooth.
Make an appointment with your GP ans see if he/she can shed any light on the source of pain.

youre young arent you?
its the pain caused by your wisdom teeth.. they literally shuffle your whole jaw... it'll fade and come back with a vengeance and suddenly your teeth no longer seem to fit... and the pain goes from your ear, to teh centreline of the jaw.. upper lower left and right... but not all at the same time...
yes, were grateful for little mercies... and theres not much you can do about it... aspirin and patience... im sure your dentist will tell you the same thing...
or its neuralgia...
