As a father, I can tell you that I would not let you date my 14 year old daughter. As a matter of fact, if my daughter sneaked around to see you after you turn 18, I would call the police and tell them how to find you. A 3 year to 4 year difference in age is not a bad thing, after both people are young adults (18 or older).

When dealing in the teen years, it's tricky. Think about how you thought and felt at 14; does it even come close to how you do now? She's just starting that stage of self-discovery and is in a different place emotionally than you are. Be careful.
Also, as far as the parents go, I would approach this with trepidation. My daughter is about to turn 10 in May and would not be allowed to date someone four years older when she's a teen. The maturity factor is a huge issue with me during the teen years. Good luck to you. :)

I think that its ok for now. But you need to think that when you turn 18 she will only be 15 and society frowns on that alot. I knew a 19 yo that was dating a 16 yo but where I live that is the consenting age. You need to meet her parents and find out if its ok with them. If she likes you and its ok with them then i think it would be ok to date. Date and thats it. No sexual activity because she is underage and if anything were to go wrong, her or her parents could get you for rape. Just be careful in what you are doing.
Good luck.

I don't think that is appropriate, if you were 23 and she was 20 that would be ok, but 14 to 17 sounds like a huge diffrence( I know that it is only 3 years, but in my opinion it sounds like a lot more)

Honestly speaking I will say forget it because think about it this way.. yuo are going to college, you will meet lots of girls there and be going to parties and other activities, this girl is 14 and will not be allowed to do any of the college activities with you....neither go to clubs or anything else, to avoid the whole drama ...save it and let it go.... also in her parents eyes and most of society this is not right either... trust me college is fun =)

Now wouldn't you look like a 'respectable' pedophile with your friends at college and that little girl besides you? who do you think you're fooling? you want her virginity and a few years from now you'll look for another 14 y.o. she is just a child, let her enjoy her middle school years, let her grow up and be with boys her age--these are important years for her. Don't steal her youth. If I was 14 again and my brother was alive [3 yrs. older than me] he would beat you within an inch of your life. if her parents don't care they are lowlifes.

I think the rule for age dating is 2 years apart, but I guess there are some exceptions... And for the parents deal-If you haven't done anything wrong, then her parents shouldn't have a reason not to like you.

ummmmm it's a little awkward, because you are more mature than her (in more ways then mentally). I wouldn't go out with a seventeen year old, personally, and I am a 14 year old....yah please find someone your own age, her parents probably won't like you (no offense, I just know from my parents they would DIE if I dated a seventeen year old). and people may get the wrong impression, that you are only dating her for sex and stuff.

Yeah, its fine in my opinion, for you two to be dating. As long as you don't take advantage of her young age, than it's okay. Sometimes, younger girls can be more vulnerable, so just be respectful. Her parents may have a hard time handling it, but make sure you show them that you are caring(if you are) and show them your good honest qualities. First impressions last, so, make sure you come off as a good guy. Good Luck!
