She was just spayed yesterday and I was alarmed when I heard this from a co-worker. I called the vet and she said she should be fine - so long she's not exercising vigorously or anything like that. However, I'm not entirely convinced. Can anyone help me out?

As long as the stairs aren't too steep and she is taking her time, it shouldn't be a problem. The stitches will only pop if there's tension on them. That's why she shouldn't be running and jumping. I would suggest you accompany her up and down the stairs at first to ensure that she is taking her time and there's no strain on the stitches.

I had my little girl spayed not too ong ago, we have 14 stairs from bottom to top, in the shouse, and even though she didnt feel like running them the first day, they next day she was back at it, and the stitches stayed! make sure though that when you look at the stitch line there are no visible "thread" our vet did hers from the inside out so the would be stronger, but either way, if you used a reputable vet , she should be fine.

My dogs went up and down stairs to get outside after being spayed and none of them ever popped any stiches.
You should keep them as quiet as you can but most run and play to some degree after surgery and I have never had any problems with the dogs nad stiches.
They can now do spays nd neuters with out any stiches if your vet has a laser to work with. Our new vet clinic has one and it is the best thing as you have no stiches to remove. I have a one spay and a neuter and one bladder surgery done with the laser and it is the best thing I have ever seen to not have the stiches.

If the positioning isn't oozing or something she must be ok. only be satisfied that she will't get to the incision internet site to like it. you ought to no longer ought to place any ointment or a bandage on it for the reason that their isn't something happening with it. i think in case you have been relatively that worried approximately it, you have completed what a prudent individual might have completed and referred to as the vet particularly of dropping time getting on line and asking the question and waiting for an answer.
