And tell us why Christianity is such a wonderful, fictional tale of good v. evil.

The freedom to associate with people of all faiths and walks of life and think of them as humans with as much worth as you instead of condemning all non-Christians as sinners and unbelievers blinded by the devil and sin.

Not being brainwashed into thinking that normal human emotions are all wicked sins that one should be punished for.

The freedom to be able to think for yourself instead of believing whatever doctrines your church teaches and having to swallow and obey the opinion of somebody who claims to speak for God.

Well considering how every single conflict/war between countries has been rooted in religion, I'd say there are plenty of benefits to being non-religious. The world would be a much better place without religion and there's just no arguing with that. Atheists are not hateful, depressed, completely faithless people you know. I have faith in human beings, I have faith in myself to be a good person during my time on this planet. I think that the Bible is a fictional tale of good and evil because like every other book in the world, it was written by MEN. Not "God" or some other all powerful, all knowing deity. It was written by men and has man's flaws which are too many to name.

Everyone listed most of the things I was thinking. I just know I'm MUCH happier as an atheist than I EVER was while brainwashed (up 'til age 13) into believing in a "god" and being guilt-tripped about almost everything! Catholics, in particular, are doused with guilt, weekly, when they must go to confession, and then terrorized with fear of the "fires of Hell" if they die before confessing and being absolved! NOT having that fear and guilt feels great!

It's nice to be able to think rationally.

i love going to church, no longer in the course of a service as such, yet at the same time as that's empty. For me, the religious journey of being in a church ability more beneficial than being non secular. i'm awed at both the structure, the historic previous, the quietness of the graveyards, and to imagine how a lot human beings loved their deity one thousand years in the past to construct such fantastic homes, and at how they're more beneficial useful outfitted than maximum new homes. i locate them an section to sit down and imagine, and to loosen up. ...I also like attending nighttime mass at Christmas because the carols and being up overdue on Christmas eve is exciting :D

The biggest benefit is that I feel honest with myself. I am not forcing myself to believe things I know are not true. The second benefit is I can go birding Sunday morning when the parks are empty.

christianity is just a wonderful fairytale of good v. evil. its a story ppl made up to make themselves feel safe. i sometimes wish believed it because it sets boundaries for u and it does make you feel safe, but atheism is easier, you dont waste your money, youarent pressured into making choices that u dnt agree with, u sleep in on sundays lol, you live your own life, not someone elses life, the benefits are endless...

The bible though drawn out & extremely boring at times, but it makes a pretty cool storybook.
I wouldn't call it wonderful, though.

-Keep 10% of my money
-Not waking up early for church.
-Not expose myself to any self righteous hypocrites or gossipers
-Not compromising rationality, in order to hold tight to illogical beliefs.

No religious guilt. No fear of Hell. No anger at God. No church attendance. No corrupted critical thinking skills. No association with annoying thumpers.
