I run a snackbar approx 400yrds from my home.I have a 19 month old boy who comes with me and sits in the truck.our day starts at 6am,we have 3 hours of playing and watching tv before we go to work at 9am.He usually sleeps untill 11am then we go into the park which is next to the snackbar. If its a cold or rainy day he watches a dvd.All my customers talk to him and people walking past give him a wave.Today i had a visit from social services and they say i am neglecting him and are now investigating our family. My partner is self employed and stays at home with him some mornings so its not every morning he comes with me.My other son is 10 now,he came with me untill he started school and no one ever said anything. My boy is confident, healthy and really really happy.Does anyone know if im breaking the law.please help

social workers are governed by the G.S.C.C codes of practise which are available for you to get a copy of on the website, it is paramount that they act in the best needs of the child whilst also working with you...i can understand how it might seem to an outsider that you are neglecting your child unfortunately even if this isn't your intention. Make sure you express yourself to social services be honest and open with them.

I would suppose, after reading what you wrote, that the social workers think so. What kind of snack bar is it? Do you fry foods and use a deep fryer? Or a grill? Maybe they are worried the he will get hurt there. I don't think you are breaking the law, but you neglected to say where you live, and everyplace has different ordinances. I know a lady who used to cut hair and she took her Pomeranian with her everyday. Same lady got an office job, where she sees a minimal amount of people (not near as many as when she cut hair) and was told the dog couldn't be there. Not meaning to compare your son with a dog, but making a point that there are different rules for different things. I would call your local court house or a lawyer and ask them for sure. And good luck, your child sounds happy, too bad, they don't count that.

The problem is that he is sitting in the truck. If he is napping, he should stay with the other parent in the house where he can sleep in his bed. The social services folks were probably tipped off by someone who thought that your boy spent all day trapped in that little area with you. Have your partner help you and see if there is a modification you can make to your day or the stand so that your boy has enough room to play so that social services will back off. Good luck.

I don't think it's illegal. However, for insurance reasons it is a liability issue for your employer.

Probably, someone saw you repeatedly bringing your son in with you and phones SS. I'd just take it with a grain of salt. Be cooperative and let them do their investigation. From what you've said you have nothing to worry about.

It does not seem to be a hazard to the child. If you are obviously able to do your job and watch your child then it shouldnt be a problem. But you should consult a child protection agency to make sure.

A child should not be holed up in a truck all day Why dont you find somebody to watch him but I think as long as you are with him all the time it is not a problem

While it may not be physically hazardous to this child it seems to be mentally hazardous...all of that television/divd watching! Talk about mind numbing.
