I have heard that NASCAR revenues were higher than baseball in 2006. This is totally believable, but I need statistics. What did NASCAR + CASCAR earn? What did North American baseball earn? Serious, informed replies only, please! Thanks!

First if you just think about it NASCAR is the second largest sport in the USA. It also has the backing of the most powerul corporations in the world backing it. First Nextel put down 700 million to be the title sponser and is paying 40 million dollars a year. Sponsership is well over 20 million for 1 sponser and a single team. The fan base generates close to 2 Billion in merchandising

Like other sports the team who usually hosts the game is the team that recieves a majority of the income.

NASCAR doesnt necessarily have teams instead it has corporations that own the tracks. The ISC and Speedway Motorsports being majority owners. The few left are owned by families.... tracks like Darlington, Indianapolis, and Pocono

The ISC owns 11 tracks and has 19 Nextel cup events generating revenues close 798.4 million a year

Speedway Motorsports which own 6 tracks generating close to 570 million a year.

The tracks owned by families, the numbers are hard to get a hold of.

This Explains just a small piece of all the money generated in Nascar but hopefully it paints a picture. For the actual report you have to pay for it and could probably get it at Hoovers.com
