If you are drafted, and refuse to serve, you can be arrested and sent to prison. There are circumstances which allow for deferment of a draft notice (continuing education, medical reasons, contentious objector etc.)

There is no military draft right now, but if there was...

If you get drafted and you are physically able to join you would have to or yes you would be arrested. This not necessarily mean you will fight in the war. I know a Marine who has been in for 8 years and has never been over seas period.

But there is NOT a military draft currently in the United States.

Chance are they will go off to the war. But, there is a small chance that they may assign a person somewhere else, depending on what their skills are and where they are needed the most.

But, there currently is no draft (in the U.S.), and the only people talking about reinstating the draft is the Democrats.

If you are drafted, you might not be assigned to the combat zone. It's more likely that you will, but, it's not assured, either.

Both of you stop being inflexible. To a certain extent, you're both right.

Although, if you become a firefighter, or police officer, or other type of civil servant, then the draft will not pertain to you. Besides, the last draft happened before those eligible for it were even born.
