I always hear about Christians who want warning labels on games, movies, FCC regulations on radio and TV, and limitations on books with a few sexual words in high schools. The bible has a lot of sex and violence. Should there be a 13 or 17 year old warning level on that? I was listening on the radio a few months ago when a preacher was telling a bible story about a man near Israel. People in the town wanted to have homosexual sex with him. He gave them his wife instead and they raped her. Some how the wife ended up cut up into three or four quarters. I don't remember what the story was called. Why isn't the FCC cracking down on that? Wouldn't Howard Stearn get a fine for talking like that?

Absolutely. There's a nice website out there with printable warning labels meant to be stuck on Gideon hotel Bibles. The labels warn parents about that story and others like it.

Friend, the bible has a LOT of stories that shouldn't be told to children! The wife's husband actually did the cutting up and he sent her pieces to different areas of the country! ( I don't think they had Fed Ex back then so the deliveries probably took a while... and they didn't have refrigerated trucks either.... hmmm)

god bless

Yes: The label should say, "Warning...only fools try to learn this on their own. Find yourself a good teacher. And while you at it, realize that it is not a history book or a science book nor is it to be taken literally at all times. Oh, yeah, one last thing...this is just the course syllabus....the rest is taught orally.
For ages 1 day and up."

Good point. Hardly the sort of thing I want my child exposed to. The Bible is full of genocide, murder, and every evil imaginable, much of it committed by God's chosen people and condoned or even encouraged by God. I don't want my daughter to grow up thinking that is the way people should behave.

The Christians think that it's okay for kids to read the Bible because it's their source of false hope. If you had some retarted little book that gave you false hope that you needed out of being too weak to think for yourself, wouldn't you want others to read it?

(2 Timothy 3:16-17) All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work.
