I want a change in my long, naturally dark, dark brown hair. I was thinking of doing darkish red pieces all over, but not too crazy. Any tips or suggestions? I've never done this at home, but i'm good with hair in general.

I have naturally dark brown hair, and I've dyed it quite a few colors. Copper red is a beautiful color with dark brown, and wine red is nice too. So are lighter, cinnamon browns, and even platinum or golden blond, depending on your skin color. Coloring streaks in your hair at home is difficult though, so be careful if you decide to do it yourself.

I just put highlights in my dark brown hair, and they turned out to be an ugly orange brassy color, but then I went out and got hair color a shade lighter than my original hair color. After I applied that color, my hair actually looked healthy, and revived, plus, the highlights stayed in, but at a more subtle color. My hair is healthy and totally different, but in a great way. So, I would suggest you try what I did, it'll definately make your hair look great!

I have had a friend with the same hair color as you do the dark red with some blond and it looks nice.

I think burgundy slices throughout the hair, mostly underneath, would look really nice.

I'd suggest getting a lighter shade than the one you want.
