Digital can't do it. A concert is the worse case scenerio when looking for a Digital Camera. In a concert, you simply have too little light and you are always too far away. Digital cameras are NOT going to make you happy. For a concert, you need an analog camera with a fast lens (low F-stop).

If you have other needs, then you will be fine with Digital, but unless you sit in the front row at a concert, you simply won't be happy with a Digital Camera. The Fuji's have some respectable low-light, but probably not enough for a true concert with you sitting 50+ rows away from the action.... not to mention the lack of high-qual lens to get past the distance issue.

You can definitely take those with a digital camera. I'm willing to bet those photos on that website were taken with a digital SLR camera.

For Nikon, you can go with their cheap D50 with a fast lens like a 50mm F/1.8 or something similar. Canon has the Rebel series. Just look to buy a lens with F/1.8 or lower number.

If you scour ebay carefully, you probably can find something for around $600 or so. However, there's more than just the camera, you need to know how to use high iso speed and other techniques.

Good luck!

I suggest either the Fuji F30 or F20 - they are currently the best compact digital camera for low light photography. You can find out more about these cameras here:

you can click-thru to view owners opinions as well as an in-depth review of the F30. Be sure to check out the sample photo gallery for the F30 - http://www.dpreview.com/gallery/fujifinepixf30_samples/

Definitely a SLR camera. Depend on your budget get yourself a Canon 400D or something similar with a fast lens like the Sigma 30mm f/1.4. And you will never regret it.

I own those myself and heres some of the picture of a seminar/concert that i took:

Note that some of them is also taken with a wide angle and telephoto lenses but all with the 400D - this is the good thing about SLR, you can change the lens to suit your current/future need.

For really good concert pics, you need a Canon D30 DSLR. Anything less is taking a chance. The canon does extra well in low lighting.
