Do they automatically become British citizens, or do I have to register them? Again, I'm a first-generation Brit born in Surrey, England. I'm an American permanent resident. Thanks!

They do not automatically "become" anything. If born in the U.S. to legal immigrants, they are afforded all the rights and privileges of a U.S. citizen.

When they are of age they can choose their citizenship - British or U.S. - even if by that time you have relocated elsewhere. If the U.S. State Department allows it then, as they do now, your female children can have dual nationality.

lesroys - stop talking like an idiot you don't know what you are talking about. Yes you do automatically become something - an American citizen, under the 14th amendment to the US Constitution. Upon birth in America, any baby becomes a US Citizen. This is why America is the land of the free, etc. etc. etc.

under us statute, any children born on us soil automatically become us citizens from the first minute, and all of the priveledges and rights are placed on them at that time. i believe that for them to adopt a dual citizen ship as of year 2000, they have to wait until age 21 to change/modify. if indoubt the questions can be answered at ins/customs wit h a phone call to the questions desk.

Your children will be considered US citizens because of a misinterpretation of the 14th Amendment by the Supreme Court that ruled that anyone born in the US is to be given US citizenship. Even the children of criminal illegal aliens are granted US citizenship under this horrible ruling. This ruling can and should be reversed so that we can end the practice by illegal alien women of coming into our country nine months pregnant and having a baby which is paid for by US taxpayers.

The mother then applies for welfare, food stamps, and any other social program that she is legally entitled to for her child who is a US citizen. These children are called "anchor babies" because they make it very difficult to deport the criminal mother and fathers when they are caught. Just look at all the sympathy generated by the left-wing press and sell-out politicians who are asking for a probe into the legal and proper arrest of illegal aliens who were working at a factory in Bedford, MA. Deport the parents after prosecuting them for their crimes!
