First of all, do you need to get a relaxer? IF you can straighten your hair with out using a relaxer as if you did have a relaxer then you don't need one. Also, you need to go to a professional to get it done because you need one to tell you what strength of relaxer you need in your hair. If you have soft curly hair then you can use a mild relaxer but the courser hair is the stronger the relaxer needs to be. I love my relaxer when I get it done because it helps train my hair to lay correctly and it makes it more manageable.

The relaxer only damages your hair if you do not take care of it. You must wrap it up nightly with a silk scarf. Also add a hair dressing to it so it won't become dry. Limit your use of heated hair appliances. I apply the relaxer on my hair myself. I love it. My hair is healthy and I roll it up every night. Yes, I will do it again. I stopped pressing my hair over 10 years ago. I apply the relaxer to the new growth every other month.

I had this done twice. Once was a vavoom relaxer and actual chunks fell out you didn't notice per say until you grew new hair in to places - and my hair yes flat was so dry/damaged.

The 2nd time I got the Japense straightner by Matrix
I was an actual "lesson" head so matrix taught the salon how to, they knew I wanted to get one anyway (free)

It looked great there I wanted to sing down the street look at me I have flat straight hair. However upong washing
there were areas that were fried. (sigh) causing more frizz.

I think if you do it, go to a salon who does it a lot.
Or just get a better flat iron and better products.

I'd say no, it wasn't worth it - took forever to get healthy hair.

I had my hair relaxed a few years ago, it does damage your hair. It works while u have it in but after, you have to take care of ur hair well. I'm never going to do it again. good luck deciding!
