My two soon to be three year old is always asking me if she can have holes in her ears like mommy. She's very girly and loves purses and all sorts of jewelry and wants to wear earrings like me. We tried the clip-ons but they hurt if you wear them for a while. I'm more concerned with her messing with them or her sister pulling on them since she's 6 months old. She literally begs me for this and I always said that I wanted to let her say when she's ready, but I thought it would be 5years not 2.

My main concern was her fiddling with them or my younger daughter pulling them out. And I wanted to wait until she wanted them because I wanted them for 5 years before my parents let me get them pierced ( I was 10). I don't see getting pierced ears as 'growing up' either. If I were going to let her go the movies with her boyfriend at 3...that would be growing up to fast.

I also have decided that when my daughters ask for them they can them, and they haven't yet. And if your daughter really seems to want them, get them done, but I agree with some others, get them both done at the same time! And maybe you could do it for her 3rd birthday, like a birthday present!

I had my daugher's ears pierced at 5 months old and she did great with it until her 1st b-day party when she got cake icing behind her ear. And I let my younger sister and her friend give my daughter a bath and they didn't wash the frosting completely off the back of her ear and it got really bad infected so I took both earrings out and left them out for about 8 months and then got them repierced about 2 months ago. She will be two next month and loves changing earrings and will even pick some big gold hoops out at the store and put them around her ears and point at them saying LOOK LOOK. if she's asking for them, tell her that its gonna hurt and maybe even use your nails to "pierce" her ears and see if she still wants it done.

my daughter was 3 when I got hers done, it went ok, until her 4 yr old brother discovered them and they teamed up to take them out, lost the earrings and the holes closed. I didn't have a problem with infection though. My youngest daughter was closer to 5 when she got hers done, again, no problem piercing them, or with infection as I used the solution they gave her when we had them done. I've seen babies as young as 6 months have pierced ears. Just make sure you go somewhere reputable, Claire's is a good choice, or Piercing Pagoda in the mall, where they can team up with 2 guns to get it over at the same time. Be prepared for lots of by-standers as well.

I had my daughter's done when she had her 4th birthday. She asked for that specifically for her b-day, so we did it. If you want to have it done, and she wants it done..... Just let her know that it hurts for a little while and she will cry. It may hold her off for a couple of years, just knowing it hurts to have it done. Also, if that doesn't hold her off, you can always just put studs in her ears that the baby can't get to. I have a 2 year old that was about 18 months when my middle child got her ears done, and I just made sure that she and I don't wear hoops or dangles. Good luck! :)

I say go for it. Her birthday gift for turning three. I think hoops would be bad idea and make sure you clean them often. If she has been asking for months then tell her what actually pierces the ear. Take her to mall and let her see the gun and ask her if she really wants to do this. She may not realize it is a painful thing to have holes in your ears. If she still wants it then go for it.

Honestly it depends on you and. Everyone is different as is their cultures, most African Americans gets their childrens ears piereced within the first 6 mths..my daughters was 5 months. She has studds and tiny hoops and no problems there. I also had mine done when I was a baby. Only thing is that she is most likely to cry after the first one and then you may have trouble getting her to get the second one done..it happened to a friend of mine who did her daughters at 5 yrs old cause they closed up the first time.

if she wants to, and you want to take on the responsibility of infections, cleanings, etc, I say, go for it! She can always take them out if she changes her mind. And a lot of places let you do them cheaply/free if you buy a pair, so no big deal on the 2x thing. As for the 6 month old, just make sure your daughter doesn't wear any dangling earrings. That should help take care of that problem.

I peirced my daughters ears at 2 1/2. She got a bad ear infection and the earings had to be taken out with pliers if you can imagine. She was under partial sedation from dental work and still fought me on it. We had the redone at 5. It was better, she didn't play with them. My other daughter we did at 1. It was fine. Hair was short enought to not get caught in the earrings too. I think at 1 or after 5. Its expensive to do twice - trust me!

My daughter got her ears pierced when she was one and she was fine with them. It hurts when they first get it done but onces its done they for get all abou them. If you get the really small ones they are hard to grab on to them so you should not have to worry about them being ripped out. I think she will be fine.

let her just make sure you do not let her have hoops that the baby can pull. make sure she takes care of them and if she is that badly wanting them go for it.

ps my daughter had it done at 8 WEEKS and she is now 14 months and no problems EVER out of them!!
