I'm having a hard time finding a bike rack to fit my car. I keep finding sites that sell a roof top bike rack but it doesn't include the crossbars and basic rack. There has to be a bike rack...any kind that can fit my car. Anyone have an echo with a bike rack attached? How'd you get it?

I have an Echo and here's what we did: We went to U-haul and had them install a 1 1/4" hitch adapter. Then went out and bought a nice hitch-mount bike rack. It's great because it's solid and reliable, easy to put on or take off (takes like 10 seconds), and you can just lower it to access the truck when you have a bike (or bikes) on it.

i bought one from my shop for $45. its an Allen, dont recall the model, but it holds 3 bikes. theres a larger one that holds 4 bikes also. its made to be versatile, so it fits, sedans, hatchbacks, SUVs, almost any car. you rest it on the decklid and license plate and strap it down. it takes about 30 seconds to hook up. slide the bikes over the rails and strap them down with a bungee cord and your ready to go. i trust ine to haul my $3500 race bike, so it should be good enough for you.

the roof racks are very expensive. i've been quoted at $100 to get a rack to hold ONE bike. they are much more secure though, granted you dont pull into your garage with the bike still attached.

this is the rack i have, you can check out the other trunk mounted racks listed on the left.

Saris Bones is a trunk rack that works well on lots of vehicles, and I know that it will fit a 2000 Echo, as a friend has one (it's a 4 door if that matters).

Good luck.

Cheap trunk rack will do. I got one from a friend who doesn't use it. It worked perfectly on my Sebring. However it doesn't work on my van, and Mercedes and Volvo that have spoilers on the trunk.
