every time i start my computer i get a message from "windows defender" giving me a code number and telling me to start in manual mode, i am totally confused and don't know how to sort it out.Is it any thing to worry about, can i fix it, how? Thanks

Simply uninstall Defender, reboot. Download and install the current version. That should fix the issue, it fixed mine.

I guess your using Windows Vista,, the system i hate. :D. Ok, first the Windows Defender is a new Windows security software. Microsoft decided to give it a cool name. The windows defender includes a scanner (virus, spyware etc), a firewall and some other bits. If you need to start it manually then i suggest you browse through the main control menus. You must be an administrator.

the last windows defender I saw was an XP program, free download posing as a legit program, but really a malware in disguise.

Uninstall it if possible, or get ccleaner

i have the same problem, and when i switch it off i need to end program
